A giant monster Tetsudon is attacking a peaceful town. To protect civilians, the Self-Defense Force is deploying an ultimate weapon - a giant female-shaped combat robot 701. Sayuri, who is piloting a robot, deals with the monster, but in the ruins of an accidentally destroyed love hotel she notices her boyfriend, who is cheating on her with another woman.
Directed by Kiyotaka Taguchi, Female Weapon 701 leans on a strong ensemble — Misaki Izumi, Takaya Aoyagi, Haruka Momokawa — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2017.
