About Miyamoto Musashi
Shinobu and her brother Genichiro plead with famous swordsman Musashi Miyamoto to teach them to avenge their father's death. The perpetrators of their father's demise see the siblings practicing, and so enlist the help of another revered swordsman, Kojiro Sasaki, giving the latter an excuse to battle Miyamoto.
Directed by Kenji Mizoguchi, Miyamoto Musashi leans on a strong ensemble — Chōjūrō Kawarasaki, Kan'emon Nakamura, Kigoro Ikushima — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1944.
