About Kahanshin Shôkôgun
Bored with her ordinary life, Maki, a former office worker, now works in the extreme sex industry that colors Yokohama's nightlife. She lives with a male prostitute who has homosexual tendencies. One day, Maki is tricked by a customer and has her money stolen. Around this time, Maki meets a woman named Shizuka.
Directed by Genji Nakamura, Kahanshin Shôkôgun leans on a strong ensemble — Kate Asabuki, Serina Nishikawa, Mika Hijiri — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1984.
