About The Ninth External Ward
When Burhan loses his father at a young age, he begins living with Nazım Paşa, who worked alongside his father. Burhan, who grew up with Nazım Paşa's daughter Nüzhet, is in love with the young woman but cannot confess his feelings due to an illness in his leg. Nazım Paşa plans to marry his daughter to Ragıp, a doctor. Nüzhet, who refuses to accept this marriage because of her love for Burhan, makes a great sacrifice for Burhan's recovery.
Directed by Nejat Saydam, The Ninth External Ward leans on a strong ensemble — Kartal Tibet, Hülya Koçyiğit, Muzaffer Tema — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1967.
