
Hinata is in charge of the script at a theater company. He is busy rehearsing for the next performance with his friends Kazumasa, who is the leader and director of the troupe, and Eri (Hayamina), who plays the heroine. Hinata and Eri are in a secret relationship between a man and a woman. One day, while rehearsing for a play at Kazumasa's house, Kazumasa's beautiful mother Madoka (Yuko Shiraki) welcomes the members of the theater company by cooking dinner for them. Madoka once aspired to be an actress, and she supports young people's dreams. Hinata can't write the love scene for his girlfriend's next play well, so he decides to ask Madoka, an adult woman, to read her unfinished scenario for advice...
Directed by Goshi Kawano, Tomodachi no Okaasan: Koi no Epilogue leans on a strong ensemble — Shiraki Yuko, Kosei Iwashita, Nana Hayami — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
