About Inverno di malato
Girolamo, a teenager from a good family suffering from bone tuberculosis, is hospitalized in a sanatorium where he is forced to suffer the harassment of his rough roommate, sadistically backed by an Austrian nurse. To alleviate his suffering a little will be the tender friendship with Polly, a sweet English girl.
Directed by Carlo Lizzani, Inverno di malato leans on a strong ensemble — Domenico Cundari, Clarita Gatto, Giovanni Guidelli — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1983.
