Lui is working towards protecting the ocean, promoting plastic-free life, and taking care of every sea turtle on Lamay Island. But her ex-boyfriend, Hui, crushes the dream they had set up and plans to build a resort in Lamay that would destroy the habitat of sea turtles. Lui works with the village chief, Hao, to defend his homeland but it puts them in danger.
Directed by Ming-Tsung Lee, The Plastic Bag leans on a strong ensemble — Summer Meng, Johnny Lu, Anderson Cheng — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2018.
