April’s Interlude

Shan, a Hong Kong cosmetologist, learnt about the art of solitude during the lockdown period of pandemic. As the regulation of prohibition on group gathering was imposed in April 2020, Shan had to close down her small business and build a new daily routine.

Directed by Erica Kwok Chung Yee, April’s Interlude leans on a strong ensemble — Isabel Chan Yat-Ning, Lo Chun-Yip, Alice Dorde — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2022.
