About The Merchi
In a violent city, one man will fight for what he believes. His nickname is the Merchi and he enters the dark world of moneylenders and debt collectors to earn quick money to try and save his ailing father. His work as a collector requires him to press the debtors hard, but the Merchi is incapable of hurting people, which causes no end of problems with Alonso, his violent and sadistic partner.
Directed by Ivan Morawski, The Merchi leans on a strong ensemble — Diego Argüelles, Cristian Velázquez, Mariano Santangelo — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about crime titles of 2022.
