Huub is a tired businessman who enters an old, luxurious but totally empty hotel. Every time Huub presses the reception bell, his interest is drawn by a new sound, coming from all kind of rooms. In those rooms he finds guests from the hotel who are stuck in their movement. They act like a rundown LP. At first Huub doesn't know how to handle himself in this strange situation, but after a while he starts to experiment with the guests. He discoverers he has the power to control and move them. This new found power can do strange things to people..

Directed by Rob Lücker, Spielerei leans on a strong ensemble — Irakli Apakidze, Christa De Vries, Arnold D. Veenhoff — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2006.
