Journey to the South

tells the story of Hua Guang who has been dependent on his mother since he was a child. Unexpectedly, one day a monster captures his mother, and Hua Guang is rescued by King Long Rui whom he follows to practice the fairy law. A few years later, Hua Guang and his senior sister Su Su cast down demons in the Three Realms. During his adventures, competing with other entities, Hua Guang finds himself involved in a conspiracy involving the safety of the Three Realms.

Directed by Ren Yingjian, Journey to the South leans on a strong ensemble — Zhu Zanjin, Zhu Shengyi, Li Yixiao — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2022.
