Spring Thunder

A dramatic love story based on Goethe's sensational 18th century work. Werther travels to Wahlheim where he meets and falls in love with Charlotte (Lotte), and she with him. Unfortunately, she is already engaged to Albert, a man eleven years her senior. Werther attempts to distance himself from the two, however.... Goethe himself is also a hero of the play: he follows his character through all his life - until the final shot.

Directed by Harada Ryou, Spring Thunder leans on a strong ensemble — Ayanagi Shou, Seshiru Daigo, Dai Houshou — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2013.
