About Pachinko Battler Sakura
Sakura Suzukawa is a popular beauty who works in the hall of 'Big Paradise'. She had a boyfriend named Goro Nanao, who worked for a listed pachislot maker and was assigned to set up pachislot machines and develop new machines. After living together for a year, Sakura begins to pressure Goro into getting married. Goro, who is in trouble, receives information about the back slot 'God Seven' from the manager, Nishigaki! It costs 1,500 yen to spin one game, but it's a super explosive shop with 175,000 yen per big shot. At first, Goro is reluctant, but when he earns as much as four million dollars in one night, he gradually becomes unable to escape his charm. Sakura and the manager of Big Paradise are involved, and the situation is changing moment by moment.
Directed by Takayuki Tamura, Pachinko Battler Sakura leans on a strong ensemble — Aino Kishi, Shuki Kawamata, Ryôichi Inaba — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2009.
