About Koboi Sutra Ungu
Olan Delong is a cowboy figure with a purple scarf. He is dating Denok, daughter of a rancher, who already has a boyfriend. So Olan Delong has to fight for Denok and also deal with a riot in the city started by Al Jiung’s criminal gang. Then Olan Delong faces a bogus Al Jiung who appears in the city, although in the end, he has to have a deadly duel with the real Al Jiung.
Directed by Nya Abbas Akup, Koboi Sutra Ungu leans on a strong ensemble — James Lapian, Meriam Bellina, Monos — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1981.
