" tells how the Zurich justice system uses cinematic methods to recover two works of art, a 100-million Cezanne and a Degas, which were stolen by armed thieves from the Bührle Museum in Zurich on February 10, 2008. An undercover investigator infiltrated the Serbian mafia gang, invitations to a luxury weekend in St. Moritz followed and the stolen paintings were finally returned thanks to a faked deal worth millions.
Directed by Stefan Jäger, It Happened on... - The Bührle Art Robbery leans on a strong ensemble — Mirza Sakic, Krunoslav Sebrek, Adrian Furrer — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about crime titles of 2023.
