About Wedad, The Belly Dancer
(Wedad) is a dancer in her aunt's cafe in Naja Hammadi, and once the prince (Yusuf), known for his corruption and injustice, arrives at his palace in Naja Hammadi, and sees Widad and asks her to dance for him at a private party, and tries to rape her but she succeeds in running away from him, and she tries to take revenge with the help of officer (Hassan).
Directed by Ahmed Yehia, Wedad, The Belly Dancer leans on a strong ensemble — Nadia Al Gendy, Mahmoud Yassin, Adel Adham — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about music titles of 1983.
