About Nafeza A'la Al-Ganna
An orphan girl from a wealthy family, lives with her depressed, withdrawn father, and falls in love with Tawfiq, a writer in her father's circle. She trusts him, but he misuses this trust and assaults her, steals her father's money, and runs away. Her father only reports the money that Tawfiq stole, but does not report the assault on his daughter. Her baby is born, and she gives birth to her, but she is surprised that the baby is blind and cannot see. She sends her to a woman she knows to take care of her, and she meets a young man who loves her and asks her to marry him.
Directed by Ahmed Diaa Aldin, Nafeza A'la Al-Ganna leans on a strong ensemble — Mariam Fakhr Eddine, Mohsen Sarhan, Abdel Warith Assir — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1953.
