Self-Portrait

The film uses an alternative shooting method, the so-called staring camera, two years before the same method used by Andy Warhol and two years before the use of similar methods at the GEFF in Zagreb. The tape is connected in a circle, like an endless tape.

Directed by Jovan Jovanović, Self-Portrait leans on a strong ensemble — Jovan Jovanović — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1961.
