Veronika's Story

After her parents are laid off from their job, Veronika ventures to the city to look for work. She gets a job in an insurance company. To get customers, she uses ways that she does not like. Veronika’s career rises quickly and she becomes the hot topic amongst the managers. One night, when she is on a date with a director of a large company, a man observes her from a distance. When they exchange looks, the man runs away. When she returns home, Veronika finds out that the man who observed her is her husband. They argue, but they make peace in the end.

Directed by Henry Farel L. Tobing, Veronika's Story leans on a strong ensemble — Jerry Lawalata, Rengga Takengon, Marlina — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1999.
