About Catching Up with Destiny
Ostap Mandryka, a serf who has provoked the bar's anger by his behavior, flees from imminent reprisals to Bulgaria, where he is wounded while crossing the border. Together with other fugitives he wanders in foreign lands and finally returns to Russia. The movie has not been preserved.
Directed by Marko Tereshchenko, Catching Up with Destiny leans on a strong ensemble — Dmytro Kapka, Mykola Nademskyi, Mili Taut-Korso — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1928.
