About I Do Not Come to You by Chance
Kingsley, erudite and impressionable, is struggling to make ends meet. He is fresh out of university with little to no prospects for work in sight. In addition to his mounting financial woes, his father’s health takes a turn for the worse, leaving him as the sole breadwinner for the family. He takes an opportunity with his uncle Boniface, a well known astute businessman and the mastermind behind a successful empire of email scams. As time passes, Kingsley becomes increasingly at odds with the illicit nature of his new job, notwithstanding the relative status and respite it offers him and his family.
Directed by Ishaya Bako, I Do Not Come to You by Chance leans on a strong ensemble — Paul Nnadiekwe, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Jennifer Eliogu — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2023.
