About Scent of Paradise
Hamid's marriage is falling apart due to financial constraints. During a hostage situation, he accidentally owns a bag full of money and escapes with a deaf and dumb woman. One of the thugs chases after him and finally Hamid is injured by his bullet. The deaf and dumb young woman kills the criminal. In the end, Hamid realizes that the young woman is not deaf and dumb, but a girl who has made herself deaf and dumb to remain anonymous.
Directed by Hamid Reza Mohseni, Scent of Paradise leans on a strong ensemble — Amin Hayaei, Mohsen Khorramdarreh, Heshmatollah Aramideh — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2003.
