The Newly-Wed Bride

Salimi is a well-respected merchant who goes bankrupt after being cheated by his partner. He commits suicide abroad. A man and a woman who were taking care of Salimi’s young daughter Azar start to mistreat her after learning about Salimi’s death. Azar runs away from their house and settles in the home of one of her relatives. She grows up alongside Mahmoud, and years later, after meeting Ali, she falls in love with him.

Directed by Esmaeil Poorsaeid, The Newly-Wed Bride leans on a strong ensemble — Manoochehr Vossoogh, Malusak, Yadollah Shirandami — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 1977.
