Mare’s youth is drawing to a close and like his friends, he does not know what to do with his life. Medical school is, at its best, an obscure guiding light; girls exchange on the horizon, there is no sense of stability in this young man in mid-twenties, whose infantilism manifests itself in his interest in the rave scene. In this extension of his youth he searches for transitory moments of happiness.

Directed by Igor Šterk, Ljubljana leans on a strong ensemble — Gregor Zorc, Manca Dorrer, Primož Ekart — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2002.
