A modern short film adaptation of the Victorian vampire novella, Carmilla, written by Sheridan Le Fanu. The original Carmilla is a story about a young vampire who falls in love with the young woman who unwittingly takes her in after a carriage "accident". Bind Over Thee puts the power back in the victim's hands and gives her a choice. It asks subtle questions about innocence and identity, and wonders who is truly more dangerous: the vampire who falls in love, or the lonely girl who offers her a place to stay for the night.
Directed by Benjamin Garst, Bind Over Thee leans on a strong ensemble — Luke Sorge, Audrey Kurtz, Hannah Fergesen — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 2023.
