We Are Animals

Death haunts nightlife in Amsterdam. A serial killer makes boys disappear without a trace, but in his own way, he is a victim himself. He is not your average serial killer. When Vos unexpectedly develops feelings for the lonely Bram, he is confronted with his own lust for blood, while Bram risks his freedom and his life to preserve the precarious relationship. After all, the sensitive Vos is a vampire, a willy-nilly monster, who sustains himself on the boys he picks up in nightclubs. As the two boys grow closer together, Bram notices that sexually Vos puts up a wall, while Bram wants to push the limits.

Directed by Thijs Bouman, We Are Animals leans on a strong ensemble — Monk Dagelet, Emmanuel Ohene Boafo, Thorn de Vries — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about horror titles of 2023.
