Mary Jane

Mary Jane’s favorite parrot is dead. But there’s almost half a package of feed left. So Mary Jane decides to plant it. And something very specific grows from it, dragging the attention of two thief brothers. Convinced that old lady is no threat, brothers break in at night and try to steal the plant. But Mary Jane meets them with a gun. And decides to take a shot and reform two poor souls.

Directed by Aleksandra Natarova, Mary Jane leans on a strong ensemble — Tatyana Korneta, Roman Trofimov, Edgar Gizatullin — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2024.
