
Based on the short story Ciudad de Payasos by Peruvian-American writer Daniel Alarcón, Payasos tells the story of Chino, a young journalist who, after the death of his father, takes refuge in the world of street clowns.
Directed by Marianela Vega, Clowns leans on a strong ensemble — Elsa Gonzales, Juan Huapaya, Tommy Párraga — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2009.
