About De Witte Piet
The film is about four children of Spanish parents: Raimón, Fina, Isa, and Maribel. These children were born here, but their names were not listed in the Big Book of Sinterklaas. So the Head Piet says that they do not exist and that they will therefore not receive any presents.
Directed by Berend Boudewijn, De Witte Piet leans on a strong ensemble — Adrie van Oorschot, Piet Römer, Sylvia de Leur — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 1970.
