Its argument follows the adventures of a group of children of a Mexican Children's Choir, who travel as pilgrims to Compostela, coinciding with the Holy Year. On their journey, they meet a rich and elegant woman, with a sad and dark past, which will provide protection to them.

Directed by Rafael J. Salvia, El pórtico de la gloria leans on a strong ensemble — José Mojica, Lina Rosales, Otto Sirgo — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 1953.
