About Bowl
Xiao-pin, an orphan since young, wanders and begs with her blind father. After her father's death in a car accident, Xiao-pin is taken in by Old Liu, the owner of a tailor shop. Old Liu dotes on Xiao-pin, but when she is twelve years old, he rapes her. At the age of nineteen, Xiao-pin falls in love with Dr. Kwok in the small town. When Old Liu finds out, he becomes jealous.
Directed by Chiang Lang, Bowl leans on a strong ensemble — Stephanie Lam Mei-Ching, Canti Lau Sek-Ming — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about screen titles of 2000.
