About The Two Gentlemen of Verona
Two great friends leave Verona for Milan, Valentine with great enthusiasm and Proteus unwillingly, as he will have to leave his recently-betrothed Julia. Valentine soon falls in love with Silvia, daughter of the Duke of Milan, but then Proteus meets the captivating Silvia - and he too becomes besotted.
Directed by Don Taylor, The Two Gentlemen of Verona leans on a strong ensemble — Frank Barrie, Tessa Peake-Jones, Hetta Charnley — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1983.
