A Documentary about Ali Ashraf Darvishian. Darvishian was an Iranian story writer and scholar of Kurdish descent. After finishing teacher-training college, he would teach at the poverty-stricken villages of Gilan-e-Gharb and Shah Abad. This atmosphere is featured in most of his stories.
Directed by Mostafa Sarooghi, The Sun of Cloudy Years leans on a strong ensemble — Shams Langroudi, Shahnaz Darabian, Ahmad Pouri — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about documentary titles of 2016.
