
The Finnish army retreats during the war summer of 1944. Corporal Lauri Ojala is left on the wrong side of the Vuoksi River. He decides to break ranks with the army and goes home. Two months later, Ojala is forced to dig his own grave.
Directed by Veli-Matti Saikkonen, Sujut leans on a strong ensemble — Vesa Mäkelä, Hellin Auvinen-Salmi, Iris-Lilja Lassila — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 1974.
