
Javier, a 19-year-old young man drafted into the war, goes to his ex-girlfriend's house seeking forgiveness before he leaves. At the same time, Javier's mother, Alicia, visits an old friend who is now a colonel to ask her to spare him.
Directed by Juan Pablo Laplace, Abril leans on a strong ensemble — Fernán Mirás, Valeria de Luque, Vera Spinetta — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about war titles of 2014.
