Buddies and the Heir

Following the death of a hotelier in Punta del Este, Uruguay, an unexpected inheritance dispute begins. Stallone, an actor with Down syndrome, believes he is the rightful heir to the hotel. On the other side is Magrelo, a young autistic man who was raised as an adopted son by the deceased. Without waiting for the reading of the will, Stallone decides to reunite his old friends with Down syndrome from the institute where they lived in Brazil to spend a week's vacation at the hotel.

Directed by Marcelo Galvão, Buddies and the Heir leans on a strong ensemble — Ariel Goldenberg, Gabriel Lazzari, Henrique Fernandes — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about family titles of 2026.
