About Wife from the Street
The story revolves around the singer (Dalal) who works in a cabaret. Many men fall in love with her, but she prefers the wealthy (Mustafa). She marries him and moves to live with him on his estate. (Mustafa's) mother, who wanted her son to marry his cousin, is shocked. When she is injured in an accident, a doctor comes to treat her and meets Dalal, as he was one of her former clients. The doctor proposes to (Mustafa's) cousin, and (Dalal) refuses this marriage, which will reveal her past. She decides to kill the doctor to preserve her past from her husband's family.
Directed by Hassan Al-Imam, Wife from the Street leans on a strong ensemble — Huda Sultan, Emad Hamdy, Kamal Al-Shenawy — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1960.
