About Laylat Al-farah
A man divorces his wife and his daughter Salma lives with him. However, he marries a playful young girl who cheats on him with a theater actor called Riyad, who brags about his infidelity to his friend, the playwright Hazem. Salma happens to meet Hazem on the same train, as she was traveling to her father’s estate and he was going to visit his friend Riyad. At the estate, Salma learns about her stepmother's betrayal.
Directed by Mohammed Karim, Laylat Al-farah leans on a strong ensemble — Aziza Amir, Mahmoud Zulfiqar, Bishara Wakim — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1942.
