About Yesterday, Today and Always
About the Karabanovs, who continued the work of educator A.S. Makarenko. The 1930s. A tragic accident cut short the life of the Karabanovs' three-year-old son. After what happened, Semyon Afanasyevich and Galina Konstantinovna came to work at an orphanage in the Ukrainian village of Chereshenki. Children from many different places gathered here. The couple devoted all their years to these children, who did not know their parents.
Directed by Yakov Bazelyan, Yesterday, Today and Always leans on a strong ensemble — Valentin Belokhvostik, Lyubov Rumyantseva, Yuri Bugelsky — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1972.
