Al Jamaliyah

Fathi steals cars on behalf of the teacher Aliwa, who does not pay him his dues financially. When Fathi gets fed up with this, the teacher Aliwa reports him and Fathi goes to prison. In prison, he meets two other thieves, and the three of them decide to stop stealing and repent to God. Fathi decides to cooperate with the police and work again with the teacher Aliwa to inform the police about him.

Directed by Gamal Ammar, Al Jamaliyah leans on a strong ensemble — Samir Sabri, Afaf Shoieb, Mahmoud El Gendy — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 1987.
