About Hitomi Kurosawa: Clumsy Love Story
A sensual drama that carefully depicts the conflicts of a hotel lady, set in an office whose names are all fruits. Hitomi Kurosawa, who is known for her voluptuous proportions, delicately portrays the complex feelings of a prostitute who has no illusions about her love life. Melon (Hitomi Kurosawa), who lies to her hometown's parents that she works as an office lady and works as a hotel lady in Tokyo, is proposed to by her regular customer Kageda (Yutaka Ikejima). Melon has arranged a date with Kageda on Christmas, which is also her birthday, and asks him to give her sunflowers, which are out of season.
Directed by Tomoaki Hosoyama, Hitomi Kurosawa: Clumsy Love Story leans on a strong ensemble — Hiromi Kurosawa, Itsumi Shikata, Satomi Shinozaki — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about romance titles of 1987.
