Christine, a young attorney on the brink of death, finds herself at the gates of heaven and hell. Having summarily received a sentence to hell, she demands an appeal. This sets her on a path of spiritual discovery, shepherded by three strangely familiar characters. It should be noted that this film is psychological and spiritual in focus, but definitely not a mainstream Christian film. The film does contain adult themes and some strong language.
Directed by Steven C. Shaffer, Appealing leans on a strong ensemble — Kelly Warren, Michael Manfred, Jesse DeLozier — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 2023.
