Old School

At a class reunion 20 years after graduating from college, the loyal and honest Li Zijian met Zhang Feng, a wealthy man who had stolen Li's first love in college. After the party, Zhang Feng and Li Zijian left in the same car, but they got too excited and had a car accident. Zhang Feng, who was driving drunk, begged Li Zijian to pick up the slack for him and promised 500,000 yuan as a reward. Li Zijian was about to get married to his girlfriend Wenwen and was worried about the down payment for buying a house, so he decided to stay in a detention center for Zhang Feng for a month. After Li Zijian came out, he discovered that Zhang Feng, who was on the surface, was heavily in debt and disappeared from the world. Being deceived by his classmates and ridiculed by his girlfriend, Li Zijian "kidnapped" Zhang Feng's son Diudiu to his home.

Directed by Liang Tian, Old School leans on a strong ensemble — He Bing, Lian Yiming, Ma Su — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2024.
