After his witch guardian threatens to turn him into a statue, young Tip runs off to Emerald City with his newly-animated companion, Jack. Along the way, he meets up with Genral Jinjur, leader of the Army of Revolt, who takes Tip prisoner as she marches her troops to take over the Emerald City.
Directed by Barry Mahon, The Wonderful Land of Oz leans on a strong ensemble — Chan Mahon, Allen Joseph, George Wadsworth — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 1969.
