A comedy about the unhinged owner of a lavish Art Nouveau villa. However, she is not entirely serious about the frequent advertisements in which she offers to sell it, and skilfully takes advantage of the interest of the often snobbish prospective buyers.
Directed by Zdeněk Míka, Oči pro pláč leans on a strong ensemble — Stella Zázvorková, Vlastimil Brodský, Dagmar Havlová Veškrnová — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1984.
