About Astro Boy: The Glorious Earth
A boy is chased by a robot through some ruins. There, he finds an Earth ruled by a computer called "Gaia," who has lost patience with humans who repeatedly cause war and environmental destruction. While desperately trying to escape, the boy discovers Atom, which had been put on display 200 years ago after it had finished its role.
Directed by Osamu Dezaki, Astro Boy: The Glorious Earth leans on a strong ensemble — Makoto Tsumura, Miki Maruyama — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about animation titles of 2004.
