
As legal guardian of Kitty Stratton, Sir Hector Benbow arranges for her large country house, Thark, to be sold to the nouveau riche Mrs Frush. Frush reports that the house is haunted and all and sundry investigate.
Directed by Jack Williams, Thark leans on a strong ensemble — Diana Calderwood, Hazel Douglas, Fabia Drake — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about comedy titles of 1957.
