They are both new in Berlin: Judith, the girlfriend of promising young professional footballer Ronny, and Dina, who has followed a top Bulgarian player to Hertha BSC. On Saturdays, they watch their husbands' games together with the other players' wives, otherwise they have nothing to do. While Dina has already got used to being a player's wife, for Judith this life is still new and exciting. Because Dina believes she recognizes herself in the naïve provincial girl, she decides to rescue Judith.

Directed by Evi Goldbrunner, Joachim Dollhopf, WAGs leans on a strong ensemble — Vesela Kazakova, Sonja Gerhardt, Vesela Dimitrova — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.

The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about drama titles of 2009.
