
The Soviet hockey players Fetisov, Kasatonov, Krutov, Larionov and Makarov were "The Super Five". It is a tale of sacrifice and ruthless demands, and of the revolt against the system that was set in motion by Larionov and Fetisov, and aimed primarily at Viktor Tichonov.
Directed by Malcolm Dixelius, Bengt Löfgren, CCCP Hockey leans on a strong ensemble — Viacheslav Fetisov, Alexei Kasatonov, Vladimir Krutov — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about tv movie titles of 2004.
