
Ebenezer Scrooge malcontentedly shuffles through life as a cruel, miserly businessman, until he is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve who show him how his unhappy childhood and adult behavior has left him a selfish, lonely old man.
Directed by Brian Desmond Hurst, Scrooge leans on a strong ensemble — Alastair Sim, Mervyn Johns, Glyn Dearman — to carry a story that balances spectacle with character.
The film landed with audiences for its craft and performances, and remains one of the most talked-about fantasy titles of 1951.
